Guo Tung aka Dong Zhi

The shortest day of the year – the winter solstice – is called Dōng Zhì in Mandarin Chinese and has special meaning in the traditional Chinese calendar.

Dōng Zhì is the day when families get together and eat tāng yuán, a sweet soup made of glutinous rice balls. It is also the day when everyone becomes one year older.

I celebrated Guo Tung today with my family. Immediately after the photo taking session at the Malakoff 12k race this morning and after passing all the shoe orders to interested runners, I rush to the market to buy some glutinous rice dough to make Tang Yuan.

After reaching home the whole family actually got together and get onto making the tang yuan and each of us in the family ate a bowl before adjourning for lunch. And we are all one year older from tomorrow onwards.

1st Putrajaya 12hr International Walk

Start Date: 13 Dec 2008
Start Time: 8:00pm

End Date: 14 Dec 2008

End Time: 8:00am

I came to Putrajaya to walk without knowing what to expect

I came to Putrajaya to walk without knowing what I am getting into

I came to Putrajaya to walk
because I know my running frenz are walking too
I came to Putrajaya to walk because I know this is something I will always remember

As the race started I walk like as if I am shopping
As the race started I walk with no urgency

As the race started I saw young and old irregardless of age walking together

As the race started I saw some goons pushing their way thru

In the middle of the race I overtook some walkers and some other walkers overtook me too

In the middle of the race I made a conclusion that women can really walk

In the middle of the race I am starting to enjoy long distance walking

In the middle of the race I know my effort will be always remembered by myself

When the race is over it was like a carnival where everyone congrats each other
When the race is over it was the longest ever event that I stay on the road without sleeping

When the race is over it was a remarkable achievement that I had done in life

When the race is over it was the day that I felt I have done something right for myself

Vegetarian Food in Hong Kong

As I am a vegetarian, I gotta look out for vegetarian restaurant that serve no meat during my vacations. As I have done my research over the Internet, finding all these restaurants based on the published address is not a challenge. Just wander around the area or just ask the locals of the exact location if I am lost.

The famous mango pudding in Hong Kong

If you are ever in HK, this is one place you shud never miss. Named as Xu Liu San, it looks like a Chinese shop selling herba drinks. But you are wrong. This is the place that serves the best mango pudding in town. Slurp, Slurp Slurp !!!! I had a much better time eating the mango pudding than in Ocean Park.

The best steamed milk in Hong Kong

This is another awesome shop you must go when in Hong Kong. They sell steamed milk with different flavors (with Chocolate, coffee, ginger juice) I loved it so much that I went to the shop twice and another time in Macao. The one I love most is the steamed milk with ginger juice. Yummy, Yummy....my saliva dripping out liao.
